Established in Mudgee in 1988, Denis and his team have a proven track record of getting the job done right, with a focus on what the client wants. Denis has been working as an accountant for over 30 years. After graduating from University Denis moved to Sydney to complete his professional year to satisfy the requirements of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (of which he is a Fellow), and to gain invaluable experience in a large firm, before settling in Mudgee to start his own practice in 1988. The knowledge Denis has gained over these years is invaluable to helping clients in any and all of their endeavours.
His youngest son, Leland, has completed his Bachelor of Economics and Finance and returned to the practice. His return brings his youthful enthusiasm and newly acquired knowledge to compliment Denis’ experience. Leland has just finished his Master of Professional Accounting while working. Today the practice focuses on business and rural clients, along with personal and Self Managed Super Fund investors, who are interested in moving forward, maximising benefits that our tax and superannuation laws have to offer, and strategically putting in place succession plans for the next generation.

Denis commenced work at Graham, Peters & Co. Chartered Accountants in Mudgee in 1978. After 2 years he moved to Bathurst to attend what is now Charles Sturt University to complete his Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in accounting with a sub-major in law. Denis graduated one day and married Linda Kurtz, a legal secretary, the next! They moved to Sydney for Denis to gain vital experience in a city practice, and to allow him to sit his Professional Year, a post-graduate qualification with what’s now called the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, which is seen as the pinnacle in the industry.
Denis went on to gain registration as a tax agent, and auditor, and commenced practice in Queensland in 1986. After 2 years Denis and Linda returned to Mudgee (with baby in tow) and commenced in practice.
Apart from being self-employed in practice all this time, Denis has served on many committees and boards and was in the first group of graduates of The Australian Institute of Company Directors (G.A.I.C.D.) in 2012. He served in local government for 9 years, half of that as Mayor of Mudgee Shire Council.

Leland Yeo B.EconFin
Ph: 0487 722 776

Leland graduated from Mudgee High School in 2010, immediately booking himself a spot studying a Bachelor of Economics and Finance at the University of Wollongong. After living in Wollongong for four years and completing this degree in 2014, Leland returned to Mudgee to work in the practice full-time. He then went on to studying his Master of Professional Accounting, while working, which he completed in November, 2016.

Now Leland has graduated with his Masters he will undertake a professional year with Chartered Accountants Australia + New Zealand, the final step to becoming a fully qualified Chartered Accountant.

A die hard sport player and fan (with none of the accompanying required natural talent), Leland can usually be found watching anything from Rugby to Cricket to Basketball anywhere he can find it.

Karen Callaghan
Office Manager
Ph: 02 6372 0295

Karen started working for Mudgee Tax & Accounting in 2015 and is already an integral part of the team. Since moving to Mudgee from Sydney, Karen and her family have settled in and don’t look like going anywhere. Our Office Manager is our clients first contact in what will be a long and successful relationship.

When she’s not keeping Denis, Leland and Michale in-line, Karen will likely be off camping somewhere with Craig and their 3 sons.

Michael Ford
Ph: 02 6372 0295

Michael is the newest member of the Mudgee Tax team. Growing up in Mudgee, Michael then went on to study a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting in Bathurst, before coming home to work. He now brings more than 5 years of experience in Accounting in Mudgee to the team. Michael is now studying to become a Chartered Accountant, the pinnacle of our industry.

When he’s not at work you’ll probably find Michael playing representative cricket or hopelessly barracking for the Roosters in the NRL (an obsession he shares with Leland).
